I have Gerbillitis!
Yes, I do look like a gerbil at this moment. It started with a lil lump on my right cheek, just where the ear and jaw meets. Then my face looked a lil lopsided yesterday morning. Blamed it on maybe I was tired due to lack of sleep. This morning, it wasn't me that I saw in the mirrow. All puffed up. Panicked!
Lucky for me, Anna was online and she straight away offered to send me to the emergency clinic. The extra weight on my cheeks add a strain to my neck. Can't yawn properly, can't laugh properly, can chew properly, not allowed to drink juices. But then again that was all befor I knew I had MUMPs.
After being looked at by the doc at American Hospital, I was advised to try EK clinic 1st coz they don't want me to be as it wasn't an emergency case. Well, Anna managed to get thru the clinic after the hundredth time. We had 3 hrs to kill before my appointment. So ended up having brekkie at Visitors. Yes, I had dosai and prata with mutton curry, and watermelon orange juice.
Had 3 tubes of my blood taken for tests. Suspected MUMPs. Advised seriously to stay away from MEN. Yes, the male species. Coz if a man gets infected, they might become sterile if complications arise. Sheesh. Well, Dom had to make his way to his doc to be vaccinated. But was told that we both might have had strep again but just didn't realise it. Ish. He too had his blood taken for tests. No vaccine till results are out. Just like me.
So, a weekend to be spent xmas shopping and prezzies wrapping, plus a movie date, had to be cancelled.
So, again the end of the year I'm on another contagious illness with long sick leave which really doesn't help my attendance record, heh. But then again, can't complain coz I get the chance to catch up with my Japanese series and Malay movies marathon. Yay!
Today I learnt that I do have a family in Dubdub. Kak Cha was so worried abt no one bein at home to take care of me that she offered to come back early fm her vacation to nurse me with 'air badak' (wtf is that i dunno, but damn it sure sounds yuck!) and some cream called 'Four 7/11' (!!!???? kodi siak nama ubat. Not sure if that's the correct spelling). Thank u DivoJ for driving me to the clinic. And to my Domdom, who braved the quarantine rules for just a fly visit to my hm to drop off food supplies fm the supermarket since his Lil Ms Gerbil can't be seen in public in such facial state. Heh. I love u all...
