Saving the monkies...

As per every New Year's resolution, saving up is always on the list of things I would do or not do. I thing a number of us do find it hard to save. Well, not that I never saved any monkies, I did. Everytime a holiday is planned, I'll start my saving regime-no shoe shopping for a bit. Then all spent during the holiday itself. If I had not gone for the holidays, I might already have a 5 figure some in my account. My gal pals blame it on my shoe shopping sprees. But, hey! U will always need and willingly pay for - a perfect pair of red heels, or red pumps, or black heels, or black pumps, flip flops, winter boots, etc...Heh.

I figured out, I am not a huge spender on clothes. Took a look into my wardrobe recently, realised that my clothes are of mediocre range. If I do have a few stuff, it will be from local designers of the places that I had visited during my trips who are/might be unknown to others. I do go mainstream like MNG, ZARA, Giordano (yes, may sound a bit kental but they sell good linen pants and plain lycra tees), and Bershka. I think I spend quite a bit on Volcom, Roxy and Billabong. Those are very expensive to me. Cheap means, a $3 tee from THIS Fashion or some shops at Bedok Interchange... Not fussy about clothes as long as I feel comfortable and they look great on me.

Why am I blabbering all these? Because, if the big day is anytime in 2007, I will have to start some serious, really SERIOUS saving from NOW. Whether the plan materialise or not, at least I will have some monkies set aside for emergencies-a need for a person with no insurance plans.

Yes, Sharky did ask my parents for my hand in marriage. Yes, he has to convert before my folks can accept the proposal formally. No, he has yet to propose to me personally. My folks adore him to pieces. They approve of us as a couple. But still culture and religion do play a big part when it comes to marriage. So, we'll see. I am not pushing him to convert just yet. He knows what he has to do.

For now, I am making sure that I will refrain from my shoe buying tendencies (I managed not to buy those pairs I'm sooooo in love with at Vans, Etnies and Nine West). NO MORE SHOES. No more shoes. No more shoes. This will be my mantra for the next year...
